I’m not sure what you mean by “respect the lore”. The lore has been changed by literally every writer who has worked on it, that’s the point - they are paid to explore and expand the world. Every book published has revised some stuff, removed some things, and otherwise reworded others. There is no definitive version of any Games Workshop setting, because they are always changing. Is 2nd edition WFB disrespectful to the original game because it added a world map? Is 4th disrespectful of 3rd because it changed the tone of the game’s art? Is the same true of 6th’s tonal shift? Was the addition of Mordheim into the world offensive in some way? Was adding Chaos, or Ogre Kingdoms, or now Grand Cathay to the game a disrespectful act? The answer to all of these is no. Categorically.

The game has always changed. It will always change. That is fine. If you don’t like those changes, then that is fine too. Sometimes editions and sequels aren’t as good as their predecessors, sometimes they are better. But to suggest that making a game or an IP more inclusive has anything to do with its quality is, in my opinion, a baseless and regrettable position to take.

I’ve no idea what will be done for Cathay, I imagine we’ll find out in time. Again, I don’t know what “it dilutes the setting” means. The setting is fluid, but it is not diluted by adding new elements to it. That’s how it has been developed since the beginning; it’s a blend of different ideas that the writers make stronger by mixing them together. It’s also worth noting that literally every single decision taken in relation to the conception and development of Warhammer has been taken for corporate reasons. Including every decision that you like or that I like or that the next person dislikes. It’s a corporate product and always has been.

It’s sadly common to hear that new stuff “doesn’t respect the lore” or “dilutes the setting”, but I’ve yet to encounter any definition of these phrases that amounts to more than “I personally don’t like these changes”
