I’ve an award winning podcast about all that’s weird and a little off kilter in the town of Biggleswade and Bedfordshire. History with a pinch of the paranormal, folklore & urban legends. I also like cake, cats, beating bosses and disability rights.

Finally had a chance to listen and it's wonderful to also see the pictures - a properly atmospheric story for the holidays, and I am also here for an Ada Goodrich Freer re-appraisal!

Thank you. Dan and his team were fantastic I’m definitely going back in the spring for a wander when it’s open again to the public.

It does boggle the mind - a medium said a ghost was excommunicated and a vicar took that as evidence? I think it’s more likely he thought that it was Roaring Jack playing a trick. Apparently Jack liked to keep skeletons (real or medical ones) for practical jokes!

Looking toward the altar and on the oposite side of the arch are the faint remains of 13th and 14th century frescos showing figures in blotches of brown and ochre

The ancient church of St Peter's next door to Preston Manor (subject of this weeks episode) features beautiful wall decorations including frescos which were sadly damaged in a fire in 1906. Here's a link to see images of them before and after the fire. www.stpetersprestonpark.co.uk/the-wall-pai...

Today’s episode of weird in the wade is a wander away from Biggleswade to the seaside and Brighton! Thanks to Brighton Museums I explored Preston Manor which is possibly England’s most haunted house 👻😱

This is a lovely idea. I was lucky enough to stay in a hotel with this view on my birthday this year.

Could you have this wallpaper on your walls at home? It’s leather, 17th century and Flemish. This wallpaper covers the walls in the Cleves Room where an infamous seance happened at Preston Manor. Find out more on tomorrow’s episode of weird in the wade.
