I'm just waiting for the first person with the money/resources to just have AI create every possible visually distinct version of something, like images of flowers, and have it submit all 10 trillion of them or whatever to the US copyright office for registration :P

It was pointed out correctly that, while flippant, this is factually incorrect. The AI can't get a copyright, but people using AI still can. Can't wait to see the actual distinction when this gets litigate also though.

US Supreme Court denied hearing the Thaler case, which leaves the precedent for AI art to not be copyrightable. It leaves unlitigated the denial of patent and trademark. It also leaves (for now) unlitigated, the ability to copyright other AI generated content beyond art. But there is precedent now.

Ok wait... so if your company makes your developers use AI to generate code, you can no longer copyright, trademark or patent that code?

Technical/engineering folks are not necessarily great at writing and communication, regardless of how technically brilliant they are. Sometimes contraindicative honestly :)

As much as I loath the many consequences of AI, it is a valuable tool to helping them improve this skill.

None of my engineers can write for shit, but most are customer and leadership facing on a regular basis. I now demand they run their emails through copilot before sending. It's been a HUGE improvement.

Interesting, in just a few hours the forecast went from cloudy, to wintery mix, to snow overnight. I haven't been paying attention to the news or the forecast, so not sure if this is a sudden change or just technology being dumb :P

This was out at GOTF someone had it. I thought it was going to be like an RC train with steam effects, but was pleasantly surprised!
