For now, I'd encourage a day trip to Genoa. Anything longer and I'd choose Naples (both being port cities)

I hadv am amazing rabbit ragu and some great soups

I tried, but I'm still not a fan of pesto, walnuts or soggy focaccia

Meals for 2 ran about $110!EU wine, antipasti/ shared Primi & secondi

This isn't a slam- it's just my experience
The palazzos were excellent
The streets are really cool
Xmas will be amazing here

There's a LOT of drug and hooker activity
I walked out of 2 restaurants
There's almost no REAL food till 730pm!
McDonald's is PACKED here! PACKED!

My time in Genoa is ending-off to Zurich!

Genoa is a beautiful city and will become a major destination if the people want it to

The bad: the food was very uneven and the service is remarkably bad

I don't think I've seen anyone smile since I got here

The architecture is some of the best ever

And the beatings, lol

I was in a car crash in Ireland. The ambulance took me to ER where I was xrayed, bandaged, given a crutch and a cast, and charged ~€300

I had a severe allergic reaction in Japan. I was seen, diagnosed, prescribed for about $30.

Humane countries take care of strangers.

Watching them try to figure out how to charge us is worth the price of admission!

I got my COVID booster in Paris in July (because Bobby Jr - I tried four times in the US in June). I went to a random pharmacy with no hassle.

Cost: also €12. Biggest delay was the pharmacy trying to figure out how to charge me.

My husband just did 4 days in the ER/hospital- the total was about 230k?
We got charged $4,600 (which, I guess is good by US standards?)

They were very confused when we insisted we must owe something and finally charged us 45💶

This was for 2 sets of x-rays, traction, and casting

The number was SUPER random, lol

Scotland 2009: enjoyed gathering of Scottish clans, scraped my leg. Didn't think much of it until it became infected. Went to a doctor, treated me, no cost.

Sydney, AU: snorkeled the great barrier reef. Got Ear/sinus infection, bronchitis. Went to doctor, no charge. $3AU for name-brand inhaler.

The system works!
