I voted this morning! I was able to use the curbside voting option which was a huge help since it was busy and standing for a long time is difficult for me now.

The early voting location is open today until 3pm and Monday, 11/3, from 7am til 5pm.

They’re not sure, but the suspicion is that the appendix perforated initially, before fully rupturing, so it was a prolonged process.

For right now, I’m just working on healing the wound so I can start doing more activity and try to get back toward normal. I’m eating a lot of protein to help with the new tissue growth. I have a very positive prognosis but I can’t do too much exertion since I’m at a higher risk for a hernia.

The weird thing at the time was the pain was more centrally located in my abdomen. Unfortunately because my appendix had already perforated and the infection was more in the middle, just above my belly button.

I’m hoping the wound will be healed by Xmas/early January and I’ll be able to work on getting more mobility back. I may have to have a skin graft, but I won’t know about that for a while.

I appreciate everyone who has sent sympathy and concern and well wishes- it truly means the world to me!

I’ve been home for about a month now and my healing is going well, according to the nurses and surgeon. I still have the open wound, lost a lot of weight and muscle mass, and can’t stand or walk around for very long. Stairs are especially challenging. But I can move around my apartment fine now.
