Hand covered in aรงaรญ puree, which looks a bit like blood
Open a packet of aรงaรญ puree without looking like Lady Macbeth, difficulty level impossible.

This is easily one of the most fun (un)conferences Iโve ever attended. Iโm looking forward to the NYC edition later this month!
3. I have an Apple Watch and Iโve been trying to make a habit of using it for as much as possible in lieu of the phone, especially responding to texts and controlling music/podcasts, which Iโve realized make of a huge share of my phone pick-ups.
07.10.2025 14:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโve tried a lot of different blocking options but Iโve gotten better results lately with the combo of:
1. Keeping my phone in a dedicated place in the house (set up a drop point by the door with a charger)
2. Making myself redownload and then delete Insta and Bsky every time I check them.
The Hudson River in late afternoon sun, as seen from Long Dock Park in Beacon, NY
The Hudson's majestic in every month, but October might be my favorite.
04.10.2025 22:02 โ ๐ 13 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Oooh this is good to know, part of my family's from Superior and I've thought about combining it with a Boundary Waters trip.

02.10.2025 22:46 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A roast chicken resting.
Also roasted a whole chicken for the first time in forever and they went SO WELL together.
02.10.2025 22:45 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0A ratatouille with tomato, eggplant, onion, and zucchini in a pot.
The early October urge to raid the grocery store for every remaining summer vegetable and make ratatouille.
02.10.2025 22:43 โ ๐ 29 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 2To be clear, Iโm totally in favor of a pay-as-you-go discount; pre-paid ticket packs can be prohibitively expensive. But the pay-as-you-go requires travel in a 14-day window; the current 10-packs are valid for 6 months!
30.09.2025 21:13 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If, like me, you use Metro-North or LIRR semi-frequently, but not enough to qualify for the new pay-as-you-go discount, you might want to consider getting a 10-trip pack before theyโre eliminated. By my math, the fare for my regular Poughkeepsie-NYC trip goes up **23.5%** without the 10-trip option.
30.09.2025 21:09 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Selfie in a blue shirt in the gardens in front of the Smithsonian Castle
Having the best day wandering the Smithsonian museums. Public funding for scientific and cultural institutions is good, actually!!!

Deeply regretting not getting a second, personal loaf of babka for the train.

14.09.2025 13:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A small dry gorge in the woods
Also hiked through Sloan Gorge Preserve nearby, which had such an excellent self-guided tour highlighting the Catskillsโ geological history. This little canyon was carved by glacier-fed whitewater rapids at the end of the last Ice Age.

Stone causeways snaking around an algae-covered pond at Opus 40.
Spontaneous adventure Saturday. First time visiting Opus 40, a massive sculpture hewn out of an abandoned bluestone quarry in Saugerties, NY. Photos donโt really convey the experience of walking through it. A monumental, profound piece of art.
13.09.2025 17:33 โ ๐ 40 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I just finished this a few days ago. It was beautiful, wonder-inspiring, and the kind of book I needed right nowโabout adaptability, resilience, looking closely, and being in community.
