Homeless man dies sleeping in the cold in downtown Ithaca ITHACA, N.Y. — A man has died after he was found unconscious outside at the intersection of Tioga and Seneca Streets early on the morning of Monday, Dec. 2. The family of the man, who was homeless, has been told that exposure to cold weather was at least a factor in his death. Roland Hoyt, a Tompkins County native, was taken to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment after he was discovered by local law enforcement around 7:30 a.m.
