The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.

I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.

The number is now 40. Imagine the response to a mass shooting that killed 40 kids at school.

But this is an act of self-defence.

A mass security force now the size of the planet's 13th largest army lying about seemingly every single cruel act they do is already bad enough. It's worse if half of Congress is calculating they are better off voting to give it even more money, than fearing any sort-of public recourse for doing so.

If and when we get hit with a bunch of "anti-woke" pop culture, try to remember that it's not a "vibe shift." That stuff isn't popular. No-one watches it, buys it, etc. It's a few guys with too much money to ever go broke, willing to burn ungodly sums on forwarding their agenda.
