Toitū te Tiriti, he Tangata Tiriti ahau. He Aroreretini hoki. Historian and general nerd of the Irish Diaspora. Lives with a cat called Zuko, ex-stray; he's still a little wary of humans. Very wise.

Marty Supreme is sociopathic in his pursuit of glory. Why do we want him to win? Hollywood is no stranger to popular antiheroes, from Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver to Arthur Fleck in Joker, and Marty Reisman in Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme follows in that tradition.

I hated this film. I read the main character as old school Sexist AF. It felt like going back to the 1990s 'postmodern irony' era. Ugh. Unsurprisingly, I did not want him to win. #sexism #movies #film

Winston Peters questions NZ's funding for World Health Organization The New Zealand First leader says the World Health Organization has forgotten its original mandate.

Apropos of nothing, undermining public health helps those aspiring to fascism because if you undermine the individual right to health (and the systems that inform and support it) you also conveniently erode the human rights of the collective - which we’re actively doing on multiple fronts in NZ.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

Sending solidarity across the ditch to all our anti-fascist comrades today. Let's not forgot who started the 'mass migration' to so-called Australia, and who committed the genocide of Indigenous Australians.

Oh gosh. There is a real fear among my friends that people will vote for Winston Peters as 'Kingmaker' in the hope he goes with Labour...do they understand what he's prepared to do to stay in power?

You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

The rise of the autistic detective – why neurodivergent minds are at the heart of modern mysteries Most detectives in popular culture – yes, even Sherlock Holmes – exhibited neurodivergent characteristics, long before the term existed, writes Soohyun Cho.

I know it's fiction, but for me as a neurodivergent person working hard at humaning, fictional exploration is really important. But I'm not keen on the idea that we're all exceptional. I hate the superpowers analogy; for many ND people just getting through the day intact is a huge achievement. Huge!
