Yep. Pretty sure all my jars are Ball or Kerr. And I always use Ball lids. I get several packs at a time at the farm and garden supply store... when it's NOT canning season. They're cheaper then. 🙂

I've often suggested we need to get comfortable with the idea that our side might have to start shooting back. Then someone's sure to say oh no no we want peace not violence. So sorry, but acquiescence ain't my idea of peace.

I got a half bushel done this week, 20+ pints. Had this happen yesterday on the last batch. Someone said "Bummer, you lost a jar." Uh, yeah, but the real loss is that pint of applesauce! 😋

I try to always use brand name lids and figure to get at least a year on the shelf. Just opened this for my supper a few days ago, exactly a year old. Good a new! 😋

My standard recipe is 6 pounds apples after paring, 4 cups water, 1 cup sugar, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1-1/2 teaspoons each of salt and cinnamon, and a couple tablespoons of lemon juice. I usually do a half bushel each fall, makes about 20 pints. 🤪
