Utterly grim.
Massacres like these are of course one of the reasons why refugees seek asylum in Europe including UK. Focusing on *why* ppl come across the Channel in small boats, and seeking to tackle those reasons, would be a far better policy than stigmatising asylum seekers.
03.11.2025 13:10 β π 1 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0The claims of UK indirect role in this are shocking. I hope that MPs demand an explanation in Parliament about what the UK govt is up to. The UK and its partners should be working within the international community to stop this genocide. Genocide should not be tolerated wherever it occurs.

It is indeed very sad news. And although Edinburgh and Scotland was the place where David was most active in recent years, for more than 50 years he has been a leading thinker, writer, and activist on a European stage. You don't see them live-streaming LibDems or Greens...
I hope the BBC will challenge Nigel Farage today over the economic damage caused by the Brexit he championed.
He needs to be held to account for the damage he's done instead of always being given an easy ride.

Farage is fuelling the return of racist language and behaviour. The worst thing is that the British media have normalised this behaviour by ignoring it.
This gives racists carte blanche to shamefully discriminate against minorities.
But we will always call out racism!

There is cynicism where constitutionalism should be. While bad faith actors can rely on their own official powers, they are preventing the proper operation of checks and balances. That there is a βwrittenβ codified constitution makes absolutely no difference. Constitutional form makes no difference when those with power can act unconstitutionally and simply get away with it.
