they lie every single time
itβs always murder, theyβre always smearing the victim in order to cover for themselves
DHS statements should be treated, presumptively, as the exact opposite of the truth
not exaggerations, not inaccurate - brazen, total lies

The Country That Starts the War Is Wrong
That's us.
"We are wrong because we started the war" should be the anchor point for all coverage of what's happening and it's remarkable how quickly that tends to get obscured.

On Nov. 16, a mental health counselor recorded in Kamillaβs medical records that her mother reported the girl had lost her appetite after being βserved food that contained worms.β
A week later, the couple said, children were told to gather in the gym for what they believed would be a Thanksgiving celebration. Excitement spread as families saw tables set with turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, they said. The children waited expectantly. But when a parent asked when the celebration would begin, Oksana said, staff told them the holiday meal was for employees, not detainees.
The children, she said, watched despondently as the feast was packed away.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.
The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.
But the food wasnβt for detainees β it was for the staff.

THE NY FAIR NEWS ACT
LEGISLATION TO PROTECT JOURNALISTS AND THE PUBLIC FROM ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE JEOPARDIZING NEWS REPORTING
S.8451/A.8962-A
Senator Patricia Fahy (DβAlbany) and
Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (DβNYC)
βPerhaps one of the industries at most risk from the use of artificial intelligence is journalism and as a result, the public's trust and confidence in accurate news reporting. More than 76% of Americans are concerned about AI stealing or reproducing journalism and local news stories, as AI continues to reshape our daily lives and careers across industries. To protect the public's trust in reporting and the news they read everyday and the journalists who do the work, I'm proud to introduce the NY FAIR News Act with Assemblymember Rozic, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the State Senate to enact common sense guidelines that protect New Yorkers from the unintended consequences of AI."
SENATOR PATRICIA FAHY
(DβALBANY)
[Logo: New York State Senate]
βAt the center of the news industry, New York has a strong interest in preserving journalism and protecting the workers who produce it The NY FAIR News Act promotes journalistic integrity and ensures total AI-disclosure to journalists, workers, and the public alike."
ASSEMBLYWOMAN NILY ROZIC
(DβNYC)
[Logo: New York State Assembly]
βArtificial Intelligence presents a clear and demonstrable threat to the integrity of the news. The NY FAIR News Act recognizes that AI may be used in newsrooms, but rather than let this nascent technology run wild, especially in a critical election year, the bill mandates cooperation between news media companies and the highly skilled human workers they employee to uphold journalistic standards and workplace protections."
TOM FONTANA, PRESIDENT OF
THE WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA EAST

Introducing The NY FAIR News Act, legislation that establishes clear protections for both journalists, media professionals and the broader public to ensure that the integrity of the news and its workforce are safeguarded against artificial intelligence.

insisting on calling every mass day of protest or one-day boycott a "general strike" is not the move. it's good to see people rallying around the cause, it matters, but if you want to be part of a large-scale labor action that shuts down the gears of capital, start by unionizing your workplace!!!

the arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.

Following the killing of AFGE Member Alex Pretti and the subsequent slanderous rhetoric that followed from top Trump administration officials, AFGE National President Everett Kelley issued the following statement:
βYesterday, AFGE brought together labor and faith leaders from Minneapolis and across the nation to mourn our fallen brother from Local 3669, Alex Pretti. We honored his life and legacy and lifted up his family, his friends, his union, Minneapolis, and our nation in prayer.
βToday, we demand accountability.
βIn the immediate aftermath of Alexβs killing, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem betrayed the public trust by slandering the good name of our union brother and calling him a βdomestic terrorist.β Alex Pretti was a patriotic ICU nurse at a VA hospital who devoted his life to serving Americaβs veterans. That claim was reckless, defamatory, and unsupported by the facts. Noem was preceded in this false statement by Stephen Miller, Deputy White House Chief of Staff, who is also the architect of the chaotic and failed immigration policy in Minnesota.
βOur demand is clear: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was responsible for carrying out the policy that led to Alexβs needless killing, and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, the architect of that policy, must resign immediately. If they refuse, President Trump must dismiss them.
The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents border patrol officers at the National Border Patrol Council, calls on Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller to resign or be fired
