My brothers and I found one of these in the swamp land behind our house on Lake Huron. Normally, the crayfish we pulled out were a turquoise blue.

Just discovered that the "yabby" that lives in the wetland of my youth is actually a freshwater crayfish endemic to only this little part of the world. Listed as vulnerable.
Glad we never ate them!
Also glad I have the opportunity to rehabilitate its local environment here.

Fears for endangered Tasmanian crayfish species after 'unauthorised' earthworks
Last year TEPA (EPA) quietly issued a stop-work notice to an industrial company over "unauthorised" and "extensive" damage to waterways housing the endangered giant freshwater crayfish.
