Currently working on a psychoanalytic/somatic conceptualization of religious trauma and my brain keeps going off into a million different branches of thought. This is gonna be tough to whittle down πŸ˜…

I agree with that 100%. β€œToo much too soon” is apropos here. That period is unique to our developmental understanding of self and other. We need an updated lexicon for talking about trauma presentations that allows for these nuanced differences

…developmental period out a bit further as well as highlight that repeated traumas, whether of the same kind or varied, does create a unique presentation of its own.

This reminds of the introjective/anaclitic split of β€œI’m bad” vs β€œI’m alone” except in this case it would be β€œI’m bad” vs β€œYou’re bad”.

I do agree though that Herman is speaking to developmental trauma when she speaks on complex trauma though I, personally, would conceptually extend that…

I had the same thoughts. The entire framing of the questionnaire and the wording of the questions themselves opposes the entire concept of personality organization

It’s because the DSM is a highly objectified, categorical diagnostic system wherein autism best fits the Developmental Disorders category because the DSM completely fails in capturing the complexity of the subjective experience of being human whether that’s autism, anxiety, depression, etc

Finally cracking into this. I’m only 30 pages in and I can already tell this is going to radically shift my conceptualizations and relationships with my clients. It’s been on my list for 2 years and at the behest of my supervisor I finally pulled the trigger.

The 4chan-coded ideology behind Elon Musk's war on normies Musk thinks autism makes him superhuman. Just don't call it that.

For the July/August issue of @motherjones.com, I dived into Elon Musk's relationship with Aspie supremacy and how it's promoted online. This ideology, coined by the late autistic blogger Mel Baggs, also dehumanizes autistic people with high support needs. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Any therapist worth their salt will know this and wouldn’t espouse such concrete statements.

As a therapist who loves somatics this kind of stuff makes my blood boil πŸ˜‘

The body is just a data point. An important data point but that’s simply all it is. It tells us something is happening but doesn’t define what that β€œit” is.

It tells us the subjective experience but it doesn’t tell us the objective meaning of that experience.
