Mothers in Africa making TikToks telling their children to eat all their food because children in America don’t have any food, are sending me.

Super unsurprising. One note though, I presume this will also now always be the cover story for when actual ICE agents are doing all these things themselves to evade blame. There's already lots of examples of ICE looting cash, laptops and more, like in the Chicago raids.

Sounds like quite the pickle.

I'd bet the best part of being on the Sandwich Guy's jury would be the lunch break when everyone gets their very own violent assault weapon.

I can't count the number of times I've rewatched the 'put on the glasses' scene in my life!

I'm not really one for telling others how to care for themselves and their loved ones though others about seem to have vocal opinions about how everyone should live and eat and are not shy about yelling it.

I am always here to help my friends and neighbours when they need it, no questions asked.

I feel telling people what kind of foods they should eat, how to spend their money, how much they store for emergencies especially without knowing their stories, locations, disabilities, experiences, dietary requirements and who they share it with or where they donate extra is food shaming and sad.

If you live in an apartment building I've always found that the laundry rooms are the best communal spaces to leave your extra food/clothes/supplies/whatevers for people who might need it. (of course ad a sign or sticky note!) It's another great way to help your neighbours.

People are stepping up to help those in need.

Trump and the GOP are holding a gun to the head of needy Americans. "Do as we say or we pull the trigger." It's extortion of the cruelest kind.

A lot of people are sharing articles about how to stretch your food budget or cook like our grandparents did to survive.

Our grandparents lived through the Great Depression.

If we’re having to resort to what they did… things are much worse than folks are willing to admit.

I just can't wrap my mind around why they worship histories losers so much.

Food shaming is becoming rampant and from all sides! The performative Evil of the current US regime starving it's own people on purpose is unsurprisingly creating anger and discord in all groups of people who care about people even those on the same side of caring and charity.

Help who you can.

I love that! Food independence is a huge thing and awesomely helpful. The only thing I'd disagree with is the 'it's not much' part because I think every bit helps those who need it and this one can hopefully literally grow into something more!

also many Radio Stations have time slots where they will advertise this sort of charity for free!

Good luck and best wishes helping your community! In ours there is a few groups who do this sort of thing regularly (firefighters, smaller social services) and they often work out great! If it gets bigger than you can handle there might be others willing to help, (-8

This is what I am doing. I hope it gets off the ground so it can be successful. I have some businesses supporting this endeavor and friends as well. Collections of donations from 11/3 through 12/21. Also I am donating items and money during this time.

I've been on both sides of charity, giving when I can and receiving when I needed. I don't really have money either but I've been lucky enough to have time which allows me to help others through volunteering. I know not everyone has the luxury or ability to do this but it's always a good feeling!

It is absolutely a good time to share what you have with anyone you know who could use it. There is a high chance you know someone who can't cover their bills, is going hungry, needs a ride or could use a hand. Even a small amount can be like a glass of water in the desert during these dark times.

The “what should poor people be allowed to eat” debate is infuriating.

The answer is simple.

They should be allowed to eat anything.

It’s no one’s business.

Ideally we would agree that food is a basic human right & it would be plentiful for all.

Until then, stop judging. Fed is best.

I do live in poverty and will most likely for the rest of my life. But I don't think learning skills to find help, do the best with what you have or cope with someone's life situation is a controversial comment. I encounter so many people in my volunteering who have no one to teach them the basics.

You're saying 'us' as if I'm not there as well. I've had nothing, including a roof. I'll also mention a full time caregiver still pays $0. Feel free to look up what Canadians on ODSP live on.
..but I still help others in the same situation learn how to stretch their own very few dollars.

again, my word limit kills me but you're putting words in my mouth. I have 50 years experience learning how to live with nothing, skills I didn't have when I was 20. I share what I have and what I know with those who need it. It's been my experience that people with nothing tend to be very skilled.
