I do like that it's a little different. And the metaphor of the content living inside the button itself is fun

But I think I like how much more stable, spatially, the card slide up/down from the bottom feels? Also the current beta animations are still a bit choppy sometimes which makes me cringe 😅

How do we feel about sheets opening from the button that summons them with the new navigationTransition modifier vs the traditional sliding up from the bottom?

If you're not AirPlaying to a TV, it shows videos in the most native way to watch video on your phone – a vertically scrolling list like TikTok! 😅

It also handily shows you the date/time _and_ location overlayed at the beginning in a fun retro VHS style

Devin nailed two things right away:

1) Once you start a video, it just keeps playing. You don't actively choose the next video

2) He pre-fetches the next video automatically so it cuts to the next video immediately

Then he started polishing... for like 2 years 😅

Even in the hacky, broken state, all of us ended up staying up _way_ too late with our partners watching our children growing up like it was a movie.

Once you start, it's honestly hard to stop. It was kind of amazing

But @justmedevin.bsky.social (an actual good app dev) realized he could tweak a custom slideshow app he made for Apple TV to auto-play video (and airplay from the phone)

He hacked it together, and shared a TestFlight and the entire group chat experienced something profound together...

My kid's home videos, however, were all captured in the smartphone age. Apple Photos (and Google) do a great job re-surfacing old photos – but they don't really do the same for your videos

So I did what every good app developer does – I complained 😅

I was digitizing my family VHS tapes and realized how much I love that medium. Put a tape in and transport to a place in time – just along for the ride, teleporting from one life experience to another

VHS home videos create a leanback movie experience for your life

Also, this is my favorite new app in years! I could wax poetically about why this is the best way to experience your home videos just sitting forgotten in Apple Photos – instead I'll share my perspective on it's origin story
