This doesnβt seem like a real thing to me, but nobody should agree to this process. This would prevent any responsiveness to student questions. This would also prevent instructors from making their courses more interesting or up-to-date. It will bury everyone in endless red tape instead of learning.

On the quiet=learning claim:
Learners benefit from quiet at times.
Distraction-free doesnβt necessarily mean quiet.
Silence doesnβt ensure concentration.
Classrooms can be calm without being silent.
Learning occurs in a variety of circumstances. We need some nuance here

The fever could cause that for sure, but itβs also just the Covid itself. Covid impacts children long-term despite what is often accepted as common-knowledge based on incorrect information put out during the beginning of the pandemic.

Since we have the beginning of some Twitter style teacher wars here, let me just say there are many people for which your rubric will never be clear enough. The rubric isnβt the thing the learning is the thing and we have to get past gaming the system and get to the learning.

Yes, if the hvac is improved that will help those kids.
That would be great to know!

I would guess that places where there is ventilation and masking that kids and everyone have a lot fewer problems with memory, reading, and thinking.

Hi John, Iβm not sure what youβre saying here. Iβm saying when people say βjust fail them allβ that that solution isnβt something we can do and ignores the problem.

Such a good point. Iβve had people tell me the same with high school, and I just donβt understand anyone who doesnβt realize how unrealistic that is. And I mean, does it even really solve the problem?
29.11.2025 20:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Thatβs a good point to put this in context. Something Iβm finding though is that it is not getting better with those other classes, itβs simply continuing. The repeated Covid infections are taking a toll as well as all the other things people normally talk about.

I used to do something like this all the time 5 to 10 years ago. In my experience, there have been too many challenges since that time to effectively do this in my current situation. It was awesome when we could, though.

Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh journalists return to their jobs at the Post-Gazette after three years on strike
After a court ruling in their favor, long-striking journalists declared victory and returned to a pivotal Southwestern Pennsylvania newsroom.
They return as union organizing continues throughout the region.

Natalie Duleba, local secretary of the guild, hugs Jon Schleuss, president of the NewsGuild Communications of America, as she hands him the mic. "The first day of this strike, our folks went over across the street and they sat down at a table, and they started talking about that they were going to take care of each other," said Schleuss, acknowledging the guild could not have known how long the path back to work would be.
