the fast track bill itself is of course far too simple a process and it's absolutely horrible that Hipkins wants to keep it. Have fast-track approvals at the local government level or don't have them at all.

I honestly think this is one of those funny areas where both sides have a point. Yes, the existing process is overly detailed and laborious and expensive. Yes, it also doesn't weight certain collective rights heavily enough despite that. We could have a simpler process with better outcomes.
