According to a 2021 study put out by @counterhate.com 65% of the anti-vax propaganda on Twitter was due to just 12 people.

In an internal study, Facebook found that 111 of their accounts were spreading half of all the anti-vax disinformation on the site.

It takes very few amplifiers.

“Political subordination of reality” is a fabulous framing Lee offers us. Exploiting partisan enmity to turn doubt (refutable) into distrust (irrefutable) and divorce what is material and observable from what a targeted group wants to or is “supposed to” believe.

This book is helpful for understanding the ground rules.

I would say that “cancel culture” is not really the subject so much as public access to texts from a variety of sources, who the de facto arbiters of that access are, their motivations, and effective ways of fostering sincere discourse.

This was a quick and interesting read from the perspective of a seasoned librarian. If censorship is at all of interest to you I recommend it.

I just learned about the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund— important work in the fight against censorship.

LGBTQIA minors make up 40% of the endangered minor runaway population. They are 120% more likely to be unhoused. They are also uniquely at risk for exploitation and trafficking.

This is breathtakingly evil.

I want to remind you that many Trump voters are effectively illiterate (54% of Americans read at a 6th grade level or lower, and the right skews uneducated), that the opportunity to learn this critical skill was stolen from them, and that pointing fingers will not win the class war.

I thought it was a nice touch.
