Bible passages could soon be required reading in Texas public schools The proposal, which is set to receive a preliminary vote as early as next week, is part of a novel push to mandate texts at every grade level.

"There are no required readings from religious texts other than the Bible."

Please contact your state Representatives and Senators and demand that they vote against this measure that would further isolate children of different faiths.

The Taylor County Democratic Party and Defend Democracy Abilene will be hosting a march to protest the killing of Renee Good by ICE agents in Minnesota followed by a vigil at Rose Park. All are welcomed to join us as we speak out against tyranny and honor a life tragically taken too soon.

Thank you to everybody who came out tonight. I think everybody was able to have a little bit of healing during a time that is so hard for all of us. Thank you chair Sammy Garcia for hosting this tonight.
