I'm treasurer for our local Little League, and the fiscal year ended on September 30. Board meeting is tomorrow, so I told my daughter I had to "go play Quicken".

I mean, what else is Quicken besides a giant puzzle game with bad graphics where you never actually win?

My son and I showed up at 12:50 today to umpire the 1 pm Little League game, only to find out it started at 12 and they had a coach behind the mound. Schedule mixup!

It was about 90 and I was plenty hot, so when the game finished in record time (for us), I didn't object.

Possibly true. But what's also likely is that there are a number of ways to address a community and say you acknowledge their issues. Jay hasn't chosen that this week. It was gasoline on embers.

Why is it so hard to just say she is incredible and have the highest level of respect for her, without saying you have to love all her music? She's a phenomenon who makes millions of people happy and we need more of that.

I promise: nobody read “waffles” as a lighthearted inside joke w/ the team about upcoming moderation systems. If folks are hurting your feelings, making you defensive or making things un-fun, *say that*! You can be vulnerable. But don’t fuck up the potential with petty shit when people are hurting.

The correct response is a walk back of the casual response, and a reiteration that you are working to keep Bluesky a healthy place for everyone... *especially* marginalized groups that built it.

In case you are lucky enough to not know what I'm talking about...

1. Argument is that Bluesky spawns arguments as basic as "waffles" vs "pancakes" <-- oversimplified
2. Jay says "We're working on it."
3. Users say to prioritize removing hater trolls (simplified)
4. Jay responds with "WAFFLES"

I've never met @jay.bsky.team. I've told everyone to please join Bluesky and leave X, daily. But if you are engaged in a community, you learn from it and you listen.

When the community asks you to make it healthier, don't make tone deaf jokes. This is a "let them eat cake" choice. Disappointing.

This is a real good friend I'm excited to hear from after they took a few months off amid the big changes. Being supportive is table stakes. It takes way more energy to not do so.

A colleague of mine I've known for a decade just came back from extended leave, bravely announcing their new name and pronouns.
