It's kind of wild how driving the speed limit feels like an act of resistance against car culture

More than half a million car journeys avoided every day in Dublin by walking and cycling Cycling trips are up 50% in two years in Dublin, as a majority of people back more space for bikes over cars.

Despite abysmal active transport infrastructure, more people are cycling. This is great news.

Imagine what we could achieve if we actually provided people with the world class active transport infrastructure they deserve.

How come “How are you going to pay for it?” is never asked about endless war?

As the petrostates wage wars that send oil & gas prices spiralling, what a great incentive to go all-in on renewables & stop funding terrorist states and their endless wars into the bargain.

Bicycle parking takes parking space away from one vehicle.

Vehicle parking takes living space from hundreds of people.

One is more controversial than the other.

Drowning in plain sight: Thousands of sharks, skates, seals and dolphins are dying in tangle nets Critically endangered species are being killed in a rapidly expanding crayfish fishery, and the State has known the risks for decades, writes Pádraic Fogarty.

Why are thousands of rare and protected species drowning in fishing gear off the Irish coast, including in our only marine National Park?

The question has to be asked why do media in #Ireland follow this same playbook?
What is the motive behind rarely mentioning the driver? Press Ombudsman & Press Council silent.

Jesus, another two teenagers killed on our roads last night.

That brings the total of people who have died on Irish Roads in less than 2 months to 25.

7 deaths on our roads over the weekend including a 16 y/o girl walking her dog.

Why the obsession over hi-vis? Why the reduction in active travel funding?
Where are the 30km/h zones?
Where are the red light cameras?
Why no enforcement?
Why aren't intelligent speed systems default on new cars?

There was (rightly!) an outcry after that young girl was killed by someone a Scrambler bike. We need the same outcry for the young girl this weekend killed by a motorist while on a PEDESTRIAN CROSSING.

Lives are being destroyed while the government wring their hands & do nothing to improve safety.

If anyone is thinking of switching from audible - and I would strongly recommend you do, this is my referral link (I think I get a free book or something). Libra support local book shops and are pretty much the same price (they actually reduced their prices recently).

Corporatisation of seaweed harvest would be a significant negative step for the west

Only small fraction of new homes in cities ending up on the open market for sale The gap between what’s built and what’s sold is most dramatic in Dublin and Cork.

Only 4% of newly-built homes in Dublin last year ended up on the open market for sale.

This is bonkers. The market is completely rigged in favour of "investors" (hoarders).

Bus drivers' union want to see hi-vis jackets become 'mandatory' for cyclists The union said that the issue has grown due to a ‘proliferation’ of electric vehicles.

We firmly oppose this measure, as existing evidence indicates that such laws do not, in fact, protect people who cycle.

The union should be calling for better active transport infrastructure instead of deflecting responsibility to the most vulnerable people on the roads.
