I’ve had this conversation at least a dozen times this week.

Your passion for God will never outrun the beauty of your conception of God.

So resist the urge to interpret God through the lens of your pain & tragedy. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, “the exact representation of God’s very being,” and don’t look away.

Maybe I’m not reading it correctly, but it seems to indicate an uptick in the last couple years.

After the conclusion of our tour, I went on a little solo excursion this afternoon to find Aristotle’s Lyceum, and I found this little guy peeking at me from inside the ruins.

A person with what the Bible calls “the fear of the Lord” might best be described as one who takes God seriously.

As a pastor, I’m not as interested in people being excited about God as I am in people taking God seriously.

Severance season 2 finale. 10/10.

“Everything happens for a reason” is a dangerous lie that, followed to its logical conclusion, turns God into a moral monster.

Not everything that happens is part of God’s plan. But the infinitely wise God has a creative plan for everything that happens.

“Sleep Now in the Fire” is a blistering critique of empire. And one of my top 5 RATM favorites.

Zack’s lyrical work got so much better from album to album.

There is preaching that is essentially shaped by partisan politics.

There is also preaching that has no relevance whatsoever for the hearer’s political ideas & posture.

Neither is faithful to the vision of Christ.

I’ve only read “Preaching in Hitler’s Shadow,” but it’s an inspiring read. And apropos for our time.

Just watched “Interstellar” for the 4th time tonight with the kids (their first time seeing it). Such a brilliant movie. Holy cow. Maybe my favorite Christopher Nolan film.
