The scar stayed really red for months, which drew a lot of questions. In the end, he almost hated the way people stared and asked about it more than healing from the injury itself.

Despite having almost died twice as an adult, Bram's worst injury remains the one he got across his face when he was 10. His eyes were swollen shut for several days and his face was bruised and swollen for a couple of weeks. It took almost three months to heal in full.

For the record I do imagine it as being slightly geographically bigger than that tiny island and as having way rubble/proof of history. But we make do with what we’ve got.

I got too specific and invented a village out of some bombed ruins. Bram’s from the destroyed Doman village at the foot of Castrum Fluminis, which I call Saisho.
