Various artist renditions of Ares’ helmet on a closeup, all of which don’t include the human suffering detail by his horns

Of course, no other artist (that I can find rn) recreates this detail even when the layout would call for it. At most they include texture that *almost* invokes the idea of that image, but never going all the way to make the image clear, or those plates are simply missing altogether

*unless I’ve missed a few, of course

In any case, THIS IS SO COOL, BUT I’M SO EMBARRASSED THAT I’VE NEVER NOTICED

So I go through the book and my saved Ares pics and during any Ares closeup drawn by Perez THE ETCHINGS ARE PRESENT

The *exact* image isn’t always consistent of course, but when zoomed in to the point where they would be visible, Perez makes sure to include some variation of the picture*

I got this hardcover edition of Gods and Mortals (it has the DVD and Bluray of the 2009 movie) and Ares’ dome is blown up in HD on the cover

2. Most significantly, THERE ARE SCENES OF HUMAN SUFFERING ETCHED INTO THE HELMET
