Research by Kingโs academic Dr Leslie-Anne Duvic-Paoli has helped inform the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on state obligations in respect of climate change. This is the first time the Court has delivered an advisory opinion about the subject.

๐ ๐ฅ Congratulations to sprinter Dina Asher-Smith (History, 2017)! The Kingโs alum won a dramatic 200m final at the UK Athletics Championships yesterday. She also ran a time of 22.14 seconds to break the competition record.

๐ฅ It was 13 years ago today that Dame Katherine Grainger (PhD Law, 2013) โ a four-time Olympic silver medalist and a Kingโs alum โ won gold at the 2012 London Olympics. Last year, the legendary rower also became Chair of the British Olympic Association.

Author of over 30 works, Maureen Duffy FKC (English, 1956) was one of the first openly gay British women writers. Today, we celebrate 48 years since the first publication of her poem, The Ballad of the Blasphemy Trial, in August 1977.
