The edges of the book. The top are flames, the bottom are ocean waves, and the long edge has both with silhouetted figures falling into fire and water. At the center is a plaque: Hell is other people.

I don't usually get too worked up about book covers, but this edition of RF Kuang's Katabasis is stunning. Picked this up at my local indie bookstore recently and wow!

Having a book made into a TV show (and then another one!) was never on the bucket list. But since it has happened, I may as well enjoy it. The show is adorable! So much fun wordplay just like my books and just like the original animated show.

OPINION: Banning books erases Native voices and experiences Book banning is not new. A small minority seeking to decide and limit what the majority can access and read has existed for millennia.

The book banning of Indigenous stories in libraries has impacts on readers| Removal of their stories continues the erasure of histories and contributions of Native Nations and their citizens

It was a beautiful Sunday in Portland. Farmer’s markets, the Portland Marathon, peaceful protests, and some views of Mt. Hood. This city is vibrant, peaceful, and resilient. We do not need a federal occupation, and we sure as hell don’t want one.

That's not most people, obviously, but it's also not that rare.

To put that in perspective: people who are neither XX nor XY are more common than people with Multiple Sclerosis. Roughly as common as people with Down syndrome, or people with Parkinson's disease.

The title, Prisons Must Fall appears in orange against a black night sky studded with white dots to indicate stars. Six ribbon streamers in bright colors wave up from the ground into the black sky. At the bottom of the image is the top of a gray stone wall. There are four simplified human figures on the wall. One figure, dressed in yellow, sits on the left end of the wall and leans back supported by their arm. To the right of that figure is a figure dressed in orange supported by a walking cane in one hand and holding aloft a tambourine. To the right of that figure is a figure dressed in green raising one arm and one leg as if dancing. And on the right end of the wall is a figure dressed in pink with their hair in a pony tail who is also raising one arm and one leg as if dancing.

Image of the cover of the children's picture book Good Morning, Space by Linda Bondestam translated from the Swedish by A. A. Prime. Most of the image depicts a room with a dark blue wall and floor. There is a window with the top half covered by a shade with a pattern of green diamonds. Through the bottom of the window we can see outer space with pinpoint stars and a pink planet with a blue ring around it. Two pink blob aliens are floating around the planet. Under the window on the floor is a digital clock that reads 04:05. In front of the window is a child with blue skin and shoulder length straight hair. The child is wearing sky blue pajamas covered with fluffy white clouds. The child is holding something up to their right eye to look out the window at the planet and the floating aliens. Peaking out from the left side of the child is a small green alien with yellow eyes on stalks above its head. On the right side of the room are two more aliens. One alien is a green blob with two antenna that have yellow stars on the ends. The other alien is a pink blob with yellow eyes on stalks.
