In theory, his skills would fit better. Would stretch the defense more, and has the athleticism for switching and recovering. But DA clearly doesn’t trust him enough to even try vs. this kind of opponent.

Val may not be a good play vs. Thunder. They can really affect his offense with the swarming athleticism and exploit him defensively. Gordon as backup C is a much better fit.
