Because of the surgeries I went from being a pack mule to being unable to pick up a sock off the floor. There’s a lot going on and I know the worst parts of it are temporary, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t getting to me mentally.

Some days I look in the mirror and see the same 330+ pound guy I’ve always been; other days I don’t recognize the person in the mirror. I still have a belly, and thicc thighs, but I can also see my ribcage and bones I’d never seen sticking out before. 2/3

I’m on my second month long surgery recovery in the last 4 months. In August I started taking mounjaro and making habit changes for diabetes management. I’ve had nothing but time the past few months to be hyper aware of everything my body is doing. 1/3

Haven’t done a shoot since October and I still have about another 5 weeks of recovery time. Trying really hard not to do a hard reset and get a whole new camera for when I come back. The bed rotting boredom is taking me to some weird places.

It’s rough but I’m doing my best to get through it.

I think it felt good for both of us that she could just take a swing at a clothing gift and it would fit. Her patience and support through my health journey has been the best gift of all.

Yesterday I wore a turtleneck and when I put my coat on I thought “why does this look familiar?” Then I realized I was accidentally cosplaying Chris Redfield.

Yeahhhh at the goal weight this dumb app has set im gonna be out here looking like Pennywise.

Yeah definitely gonna go by those markers instead. A1C, cholesterol, etc. Gonna discuss what the healthy ranges for me should be with my doc at my next follow up.

I lost 100 fucking pounds this year and that stupid BMI range telling me I need to lose almost 100 more crushed any joy I felt in the accomplishment. Fuck that.

I told @gingerdraven.bsky.social what the bmi index suggested for my weight range and her immediate response was the same: “Hell no.” It was a very “you’re not doing that” tone, which I very much needed to hear from an outside-my-brain voice.

For now I’m just going by my A1C and cholesterol levels and whatnot.

I recently noticed a disclaimer under my goal weight saying that wasn’t within healthy range according to BMI, and a healthy range for a 6’2 male starts in the 140’s. That sounds like slenderman proportions. I readjusted to 180 and we’ll go from there.

Is there a better metric than BMI?

So a few months ago I started using Noom to help me keep track of my calorie intake and assist with getting into the proper habits to manage my diabetes. I was 293 and set a goal weight of 209…
