I was 17 when the Iraq war started. I was livid watching my peers shipped off to fight a war for rich people. Almost 7,000 service members died. I’m now 39 and here’s a new war for rich people. But it’s a brand new rage being told our troops dying is just “the way it is”. War is a choice.

I keep thinking about the people for whom $400K is a small number and how they are the reason people for whom it is a very big number have to hustle like this

but even in this ‘maga’ red pocket of the ‘burbs, there are a lot of seeds of hope. A Tuesday night of people demanding better for one another, for our communities, for our world. Humbling and awe-inspired to witness. Now today, we continue the work. /6

This morning I woke up still feeling overwhelmed but also hopeful and grateful by and for the connection and community. We have so much work to do — especially right now with protecting and sustaining our targeted people — /5

16 of us from a normie suburban neighborhood precinct gathered together and UNANIMOUSLY voted for a platform to abolish ICE, ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, protect MN’s most precious natural resource (water), and affirm bodily autonomy. /4

Reader, we went, and we saw friendly faces and met our neighbors and participated in the raucous, messy, passionate process of democracy. It was a good thing to do. /3

When I got home, my social anxiety was kicking in and J was drained after a long day. We wrestled with whether or not to go but then the moment of clarity happened: what if this were our last chance to do this? /2

Yesterday morning I woke up struggling, feeling overwhelmed and hopeless, worrying about my neighbors, my work and home communities and neighbors. At lunch I messaged J ‘I think I want to caucus tonight.’ /1

An appropriate reaction to the federal government attacking a WHOLE STATE -- murdering, disappearing, brutalizing, kidnapping our neighbors isn't to just haggle over the funding for one agency. It's to stop all business as usual until this ends.
