That’s why it’s rampant in the church; the church is fixated on preserving and growing in power instead of love — and it is chasing kind of leaders who promise it.

It’s also why you can’t restore abusers back to power.

Reminder that Anne Frank was NOT a citizen of the Netherlands. She was an immigrant who had claimed asylum while fleeing political violence in Germany.

When Anne went into hiding, she was hiding to avoid deportation back to Germany. Literally.

Don’t tell me we are the good guys.

If they silence you, it’s to protect the abuser.

If they limit your empathy, it’s to keep you on the abuser’s side.

If they tell you to move on, it’s so they don’t have to.

My son, a joker: “Why are YOU in the kitchen?”

Me, a provider: “I’m cooking dinner.”

My son, a smartass: “Can you cite any sources proving that?”

Me, brandishing cutlery: *chopping intensifies*

My son, doing his own research: *backs away*

That’s why I’d like to see more men cut off their hands and gouge out their eyes— it’s a clear requirement of the “plain reading of scripture.”

In the church, “judgers” are treated as a bigger threat than the harm to actual victims—and more attention is given to managing THAT risk than the trauma of sexual abuse.

- Are they loudly calling for true third party investigations?

- Have they repented publicly for their own prior poor response?

- Are they listening to the victims within their own ministries?

If not, their stances are likely calculated image repair to placate their audience.

- Are they speaking out when it’s likely to cost them?

- Are they deferring to the voices of experts?

- Are they honoring victims for their courage?

- Do they acknowledging the pervasive issue of church coverup?

As the unstoppable tsunami of exposures continues, you’re going to see major leaders make calculated concessions.

One thing I’ve learned about preachers is that the more power they claim to have, the more likely it is they’re abusing it.

Yesterday I tried to report cyberstalking/harassment that’s gone on for a/b two years.

The federal help line said it had a special offer for people over 50: press 1 if I was over 50, and 2 if I was under 50.

I pressed two. It hung up.

Kinda want to know if pressing 1 leads to a phishing scam. 💀

Like Philip Pullman’s Magisterium in "His Dark Materials," evangelical parenting teachers dangle the false promise of happy, controlled, and submissive children in front of parents.

But they leave the broken pieces of hurt children in their wake.

One issue that is often brushed aside w/Trump's election is sex abuse survivors. When Trump was re-elected, it underscored that people don't take sex abuse seriously and added more pain to their trauma.
