A rare case of large AstroSat pointing drift captured in UVIT visible channel images
UVIT VIS channel captures images every second, used for telescope pointing drift correction. This movie, created from ~600 VIS channel images, highlights a particularly severe but rare case.
The new PRADAN AstroSat archive now hosts over 100 Level2 UVIT datasets, with many more to be added soon. Explore UVIT imaging data processed with the latest UVIT Level2 pipeline (version 7.0.2).
The figure shown is Figure 1 from the article on UVIT Data Release Version 7.

AstroSat UVIT view of the WLM galaxy
There are three images. The first one is at nearly the original UVIT imaging resolution. The second has a slightly degraded resolution but reveals fainter features more clearly. The last one was more of an intentional experiment.

This false-colour image of the galaxy NGC 3718 combines data from the UVIT onboard AstroSat. The FUV channel is shown in blue, while the NUV channel is shown in yellow.
I'm deeply interested in how ideas in astronomy and physics have developed over time, which is what initially drew me to this article. It turned out to be an excellent read! Only towards the end did I realise who the author is and the significant contributions he made to astrometry.
