The Economic Blackout
begins tonight at 12:00am and goes all day tomorrow (Friday) until 11:59pm.

It's never over! Well, unless people begin to accept everything that's happening as "normal" - then it's pretty much over. The point: Never settle for what's happening. Resist it with every fiber of your being!

In my experience, Republican Members of Congress don't often respond to calls from their constituents. (They only care about those with the deep pockets).

We must commit to always doing good and what is right, even if our present political climate makes it seem out of fashion. We are in the midst of a great struggle, but a struggle which we will overcome. Remember: none of us is as strong as all of us when we are united.

Throughout history, when times have gotten difficult, networking has been especially important (even before the word "networking" existed). There has been a lot of fallout in the short time since Trump has taken office. People are concerned. They are confused. They are afraid.

We also need to teach them the importance of continously learning and growing their education. Sadly, our society has become so anti-intellectual that it actually glorifies ignorance (which is just so depressing).

What we desparately need is to teach kids how to think critically (i.e., how to evaluate whether statements are facts or just opinions, how to verify the validity of supposed factual statements, how to discern objective news from propaganda, etc.).

Now, if they had employed a reputable fact-checker on the level of Snopes or Politifact, I might feel differently. Tech Bro-controlled fact-checking, though, will always be prone to issues.

So Facebook is doing away with fact-checking... When I consider some of the things Facebook flagged while considering all of the spam posts they gave a pass to, I actually thought their fact-checking kinda sucked. ...

They occupy cherished places within our memories. They are our life’s stories. And as long as we are still kicking, there is more of it to be written. With that, here’s to looking forward. Wishing everyone all the very best in 2025 and beyond.

At some point, I am finally going to have to come to grips with the inexorable and increasingly rapid flow of time. All those amazing moments from our past that we may sometimes long to re-live aren’t gone.

I’m old enough to remember how big a deal it was hitting the year 2000. I’m just having temporal anxiety over the fact that a quarter of a century has elapsed since then. It feels like it flew by.

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a safe and happy new year. It breaks my brain to think that tomorrow, it will be the 25th year of the 2000s.

People can critique Carter's presidency however they wish (I for one think he gets an unfair rap), but evaluating his life on the whole, there is no doubt that he was a human being of the highest character whose service to mankind is, and forever will be, unparalleled.

Happy Monday. Time to fire up a pot of coffee, scan the headlines, and play another round of "The Onion or Not the Onion"...

Today marks the winter solstice. From here, the days start getting longer. As in life, though we go through periods of darkness, there are always brighter days ahead, and opportunities for new beginnings...
