The Economic Blackout
begins tonight at 12:00am and goes all day tomorrow (Friday) until 11:59pm.
It's never over! Well, unless people begin to accept everything that's happening as "normal" - then it's pretty much over. The point: Never settle for what's happening. Resist it with every fiber of your being!
10.02.2025 15:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We really need to get our shit together, people. We're totally embarrassing ourselves in front of all the extraterrestrials. The rest of the Milky Way is watching. Act like it!
05.02.2025 14:34 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In my experience, Republican Members of Congress don't often respond to calls from their constituents. (They only care about those with the deep pockets).
03.02.2025 15:48 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We must commit to always doing good and what is right, even if our present political climate makes it seem out of fashion. We are in the midst of a great struggle, but a struggle which we will overcome. Remember: none of us is as strong as all of us when we are united.
22.01.2025 21:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In times like these, it is especially important that we be there for each other; that we offer safe harbor to our friends of color, to our LGBT friends, to our friends from beyond our borders; to the most vulnerable among us.
...
Throughout history, when times have gotten difficult, networking has been especially important (even before the word "networking" existed). There has been a lot of fallout in the short time since Trump has taken office. People are concerned. They are confused. They are afraid.
...
We also need to teach them the importance of continously learning and growing their education. Sadly, our society has become so anti-intellectual that it actually glorifies ignorance (which is just so depressing).
08.01.2025 00:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What we desparately need is to teach kids how to think critically (i.e., how to evaluate whether statements are facts or just opinions, how to verify the validity of supposed factual statements, how to discern objective news from propaganda, etc.).
08.01.2025 00:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Now, if they had employed a reputable fact-checker on the level of Snopes or Politifact, I might feel differently. Tech Bro-controlled fact-checking, though, will always be prone to issues.
08.01.2025 00:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So Facebook is doing away with fact-checking... When I consider some of the things Facebook flagged while considering all of the spam posts they gave a pass to, I actually thought their fact-checking kinda sucked. ...

We are attempting to survive our time so we may live into yours. We hope someday, having solved the problems we face, to join a community of galactic civilizations. This record represents our hope and our determination, and our good will in a vast and awesome universe."
"If one such civilization intercepts Voyager and can understand these recorded contents, here is our message: This is a present from a small distant world, a token of our sounds, our science, our images, our music, our thoughts, and our feelings.

From NASA Administrator, Bill Nelson:
NASAβs Voyager 1, the most distant human-made object from Earth, now heading into interstellar space, carries a message from President Carter that captures his core values and grace:
This is my jam:) Live for something bigger...

They occupy cherished places within our memories. They are our lifeβs stories. And as long as we are still kicking, there is more of it to be written. With that, hereβs to looking forward. Wishing everyone all the very best in 2025 and beyond.
31.12.2024 16:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At some point, I am finally going to have to come to grips with the inexorable and increasingly rapid flow of time. All those amazing moments from our past that we may sometimes long to re-live arenβt gone.
31.12.2024 16:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm old enough to remember how big a deal it was hitting the year 2000. Iβm just having temporal anxiety over the fact that a quarter of a century has elapsed since then. It feels like it flew by.
31.12.2024 16:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a safe and happy new year. It breaks my brain to think that tomorrow, it will be the 25th year of the 2000s.
31.12.2024 16:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0People can critique Carter's presidency however they wish (I for one think he gets an unfair rap), but evaluating his life on the whole, there is no doubt that he was a human being of the highest character whose service to mankind is, and forever will be, unparalleled.
29.12.2024 21:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Happy Monday. Time to fire up a pot of coffee, scan the headlines, and play another round of "The Onion or Not the Onion"...
23.12.2024 14:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I may need reading glasses. I just texted the middle finger emoji to someone when I clearly intended to give them a thumbs up.
23.12.2024 00:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Today marks the winter solstice. From here, the days start getting longer. As in life, though we go through periods of darkness, there are always brighter days ahead, and opportunities for new beginnings...
21.12.2024 22:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you, Brenda:) It's nice seeing you on here:)
10.12.2024 02:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0β[T]he happiest and most fulfilled people Iβve known are those who devoted themselves to something bigger and more profound than merely their own self interest.β
