Yeah I could see a theoretical where a machine learning program is able to generate a decent quantity of test scripts that could be run autonomously, but as you said you'd still need human input to actually verify the validity of the results of the scripts and all that

It’ll be good character-building to force these folks to go through the ordeal of catching Shadow Entei from Dakim’s team that is almost explicitly designed to kill it.

#40 - TRUTH AND TREASON: 5/10

It’s like aight, I guess. Feels too Oscar-baity a lot of the time and maybe shows a bit too much sympathy to the Nazi officer trying to yoink the protagonist 💀. But the performances are solid and the lighting and sets are pretty well done. I’ve seen worse.

#39 - SHOUSHIMIN: HOW TO BECOME ORDINARY (S1&S2): 9.5/10

Rollin both seasons into one post cause of how hard I binged it. What an incredible series. Some of the most compelling cinematography and directing I’ve seen in a while working in perfect harmony with excellent writing and a beautiful score.

#38 - GHOST OF YOTEI: 8.5/10

A world that’s just as beautiful as Tsushima with a slightly tighter narrative and a noticeably stronger soundtrack. Some of my quibbles in regards to combat from Tsushima still exist but the stances being replaced with bespoke weapons does feel better. Great time.

#37 - THE WIND RISES: 8/10

Will definitely need to rewatch this with the sub cause the dub didn’t feel all too great. A poignant piece about how man’s desire to find and create beauty in all things can often be twisted and distorted into enabling the machinations of war and destruction.

#36 - SAKAMOTO DAYS (SEASON 2): 5.5/10

I think this series is already getting kinda stale? Continues to not look good and even with the plot progressing I dunno how much it feels like things are really building up? IDK I might just not like this series all that much :/

#35 - THE SUMMER HIKARU DIED: 7/10

Feels uneven plot-wise with certain threads feel like they’re spinning their wheels a bit much but the vibes and atmosphere are really nice, and the intrigue they establish by the end of the season definitely has me keen to see more. Banter is solid too.

#34 - WITCH WATCH: 8/10

A stunning portrayal of the only ethically responsible Content House.

#33 - DANDADAN (SEASON 2): 8.5/10

Pretty much just as good as the first. I think the Evil Eye stuff drags a bit with how long it all goes on but it’s all still very solid. Probably the best looking show coming out right now, consistently superb animation and great OST. Lowkey like OP2 more than OP1

#32 - TRAILS IN THE SKY 1ST CHAPTER: 10/10

Aside from some localization nitpicks I have this is an immaculate remake. Combat is maybe the best feeling in the series, the new music arrangements are phenomenal, and even with the odd localization quirks the writing is as strong as ever. Gorgeous game.

#31 - FINAL FANTASY 4: 7.5/10

A mostly smooth and polished game with a lot of clever writing and gameplay integration. ATB feels pretty good when you have all 5 characters but can feel a bit sluggish with 3 and less. Row system feels a bit funky though and the final boss is a big difficulty spike.

#30 - FINAL FANTASY 3: 5/10

Storytelling and navigation are weaker than in 2 but there's some sharp combat refinements I appreciate, though the final dungeon does feel especially brutal. Good music though, Eternal Wind is probably the most memorable song in the series so far.

Oh and if you're willing to expand to past 6th gen you should definitely try Resonance of Fate if you haven't, wicked cool game that's unlike anything else in the genre

If you haven't already played Wild Arms 3 or the Xenosaga games on PS2 I'd highly recommend them. Wild Arms 3 has unparalleled levels of soul and is easily my favorite of the first 3 WA games, andthere's a lot of interesting meat to dig into with Xenosaga.

CS3 through Reverie is such a generational run of games, any other series would weep at the opportunity to get a group as strong as those 3 games in back to back succession.

#29 - WILD ARMS 3: 9/10

A bit too easy to get lost at certain points with the Search System and stuff but man what an incredible game. Really fun combat, excellent writing, excellent music, just all around superb. The presentation of its OP and ED are second-to-none, unreal levels of Soul.

#28 - LOST SOUL ASIDE: 7/10

The winner of the Vs.13-like duology. Story is pretty clunky but the combat and level design stays engaging the whole way through. You can easily see the dev‘s ambitions, and while it results in some jank, it results in a game that is Perfectly Fine.

You might fuck with Ratchet and Clank

#27 - FINAL FANTASY 2: 6/10

A slight improvement over 1. Navigation and storytelling is noticeably better but the progression systems feel awkward with the rotating door of party members and having to use each individual spell instead of generalized WHM/BLM progression.

I just beat it last week; it is Not Good (some solid Shimomura tracks at least though.)

#26 - REYNATIS: 4/10

It's Not Good. Some solid Shimomura tracks and some neat *ideas* for combat are all this game really have going for it. Nojima brought his D-game to this and it just kinda looks ugly, paired with quite bad dungeon/area design and side quests. Yikers.

#25 - DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH: 9.5/10

The map felt a bit easier to traverse than the first but aside from that and maybe a bit more combat than I initially this is a really remarkable sequel to the first game. Tons of exciting new mechanics, an even better OST, and a really excellent story.

There's so many dudes that get hit on the nuts in this one it's badass

Hina Chono my GOAT. Out of curiosity did you watch it subbed or dubbed, the dub didn't start releasing until the season was almost done so I never checked it out but the cast for it seems solid.
