What public discord channels do you find to be the most useful for Kidlit?

Even though I have a lot of…feelings…about Instagram, I still find it useful for learning about new events or festivals happening in my local area. I definitely post less on it than I used to, but I find it hard to give up as a resource for disseminating information online (at least right now)

Banned Books Week will take place October 5 – 11, 2025. With the escalation in attempts to ban books in libraries, schools, and bookstores around the country.

Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.

The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.

this is going around as people finger wag about optics and peaceful protests

and i just want to note that the cop here - john pike - received retirement, 8mos of suspended leave pay, and $38k for the pain and suffering of macing kids

the students received $6k-30k, most at the lower end

As a Davis Alumni, what’s even more frustrating is that the university and Katehi (Chancellor at the time) actually spent $175,000 for an outside company to try and erase any negative PR about the incident

ben & jerry’s stopped selling in the occupied palestinian territory a few years back and has ongoing beef with unilever (their manufacturer) over their israeli manufacturing and attempts to silence b&j’s statements on palestinian solidarity. they’re currently trying to buy back the company
