뱀잡이수리Sagittarius serpentarius
아프리카에 널리 서식하는 조류이며 우아하고 고고한 자태와는 다르게 매우 굵은 울음소리를 냅니다. 강력한 앞발발차기로 블랙맘바, 코브라같은 뱀들을 사냥하는 것으로 유명하지만 사실 곤충이나 설치류등등 눈에 보이는 모든 작은 생물들을 사냥합니다. 다자란 뱀잡이수리는 천적이 사실상 없다고 보아도 무방합니다. 이들은 땅을 걸어다니는 것을 선호해서 최상위 포식자인 표범이나 사자와 마주할 수 있겠지만.. 뛰어난 시력을 통해서 미리 이들을 포착하고 아주 쉽게 도망치죠.

Some superpink #pterosaurs for #FossilFriday: these are Pterodaustro of varying ages, drawn to promote a 2019 study on hatchling pterosaur flight I worked on with @tetzoo.bsky.social and @gimpasaura.bsky.social. I had a single day to work on this image: given the complexity, I think it came out OK.

#Paleoart mural of Early Jurassic marine life I created for @scarboroughmuseums back in 2018. The stars of the show are Rhomaleosaurus and Stenopterygius. Pterosaurs, as well as various fish and cephalopods, fill out the margins.
