There’s consistent positioning of ACT having the answers, predictably around austerity: “tough but unpopular decisions”, “hard choices”, “savings”, “efficiency”, “cost pressures”, “affordable”.
School lunches are of course positioned as a success, as is $12 billion “saved” on pay equity legislation.

If I wanted to write a speech to retain my base while also appealing to NZF, National and potentially some Labour voters, this would be it.
“Telling it like it is” could also be read as “telling it closely aligned to the Atlas worldview”, which is why media context/critique is vital.
