We got along to Out of the Bedroom for 1st time this year. It's Edinburgh's longest-running open mic night where you can't play covers, only originals. It was quiet, just half a dozen or so acts, but here's to songs dreamed up by humans and sung by humans to other humans 👫

Recording update... So we've got two versions of the single 'Song of Dawn' in the pipeline - one that uses a bit of Tusk by Fleetwood Mac and one that doesn't. Am talking to Lindsey's publisher so fingers crossed they say yes, and that we can afford it 🤞 Gareth's trumpet sounds BRILLIANT on it.

What a night this was. The singing was exceptional, the songs and arrangements gorgeous. I'd never heard #JulieFowlis live and, wow, she has a voice for the ages. And #IndigoGirls - what can I say except haste ye back ❤️

In fact it's called 'Song Of Dawn' and we are planning to record and release it next month. As neither of us knew Dawn 'in real life', we feel like we should reach out to some of Dawn's friends or family to check that it's ok to do this, maybe show them the lyrics or something...

In honour of #peteryarrow we did a quick blast of That's What You Get For Loving Me the other night. It was written by Gordon Lightfoot but a big hit for Peter, Paul & Mary in 1964. Also one of the first songs we learned to sing together. ✌️

We're also working on a *whisper it* christmas song. BUT it's kind of anti... AND we're going full Brian Wilson on the harmonies - both vocal and trumpet - bc nothing says xmas more than a bit of miserable maximalism. Coming soon.
