Darklands Horse Fair: My Experience & What You Should Know ⚠️ Disclaimer: This is my personal experience and perspective. Everyone has their own take on the event, and I suspect my views may not be widely shared (perhaps by 1.5% of mares at most—more on that later). However, since there’s very little information available online about Darklands’ Horse Fair, I want to share this for those considering attending. 1. The Scale & Setup The number of attendees was far larger than I expected—easily over 150, maybe even 200 mares in line. This meant space was limited, with most mares standing for long periods. According to the event description, mares would be escorted and prepared ("The stable master will escort the mares to the playroom where they will be prepared for the stallions"), but in practice, this didn’t happen as I expected. I even had to return and explicitly request a hood myself, which was mandatory before stallions entered but somehow overlooked. Once the stallions arrived, the room became extremely crowded and busy. There were enough tops to meet demand, but the sheer volume of people made for an overwhelming atmosphere. 2. Preparation & Expectations For newcomers, an important heads-up: apply lube beforehand, as most tops won’t bother. Lube is available inside the darkrooms (as is usually the case at these venues), hanging on walls, along with paper towels and trash bins. You’re expected to be “ready.” Also, don’t assume they’ll ease in—my first experience was a very rough and abrupt entry, made worse by the fact that it was the biggest of the night. That moment nearly made me walk out, but I pushed through, and things got easier afterwards. Another note: anal rinsing is required to participate. If you’ve never done it before, I strongly suggest practicing well in advance.

3. A Major Red Flag: Safe vs. Unsafe Sex This is my biggest issue with the event. Mares were asked at check-in whether they wanted safe or unprotected sex. I chose to go protected and was given a blue collar, which should have made it easy for staff to monitor me. In theory, they were supposed to ensure that only protected sex happened with those of us who opted for it. However, out of approximately 200 mares, I later discovered that only three of us had requested safe sex (hence the 1.5% estimate). Despite this tiny number, staff didn’t check on us nearly as much as I expected. They walked by randomly but infrequently, which meant that multiple stallions ignored the rules and fucked me without a condom before anyone intervened. They managed to catch one guy, but at least four others had ignored the rule without being caught. I anticipated being less popular because of my preference, and I was—others were getting perhaps three times as much attention. But what truly disappointed me was the realization that most stallions simply weren’t paying attention to the rules at all. Some likely didn’t even know, either because they hadn’t read the guidelines, didn’t care, or just forgot in the heat of the moment. Given how serious this issue is, I believe stallions should be explicitly reminded at entry—just like I was asked about my preference when I signed in. Sure, I could have asked every single stallion before engaging and checked for myself, but honestly, it was easier to just quit altogether rather than constantly explaining the rules and verifying compliance. And I didn’t want to kill the mood for those who actually were following the rules. 4. The Crowd & Vibe During the Horse Fair, the whole venue became much more crowded than usual. I was told (since I was inside the designated area) that a lot of stallions came specifically for this event and left right after. I don’t know if that was 20% or 60%, but the vibe definitely shifted.

This influx of people also meant a wider variety of attendees—some of whom gave off a very different energy compared to the rest of Darklands. I never got that same feeling from the main event, so I suspect many weren’t regular Darklands-goers. This raises concerns because those unfamiliar with the event might also be less informed about sexual health, testing, and consent practices. Final Thoughts I know this event is special for many, and I respect that. I just wanted to share my own perspective for those who, like me, might value knowing what to expect. I don’t share this to shame the event or those who enjoy it—I just wish I had known these things beforehand so I could have made a more informed decision. Hopefully, this helps others decide whether Darklands Horse Fair is the right experience for them.
