Nefer does not regret her actions but she does regret that she has made Lauma step in to save her without a second thought. It is not the first time, nor will it be the last. It weighs on her, keeping Nefer quiet from the moment they part until well after Jahoda helps her into the spare room within the Curatorium. The world is still a blur even hours after Lauma has healed her. The burning is to be expected, but it lingers, an ache that has barely even begun to recede. Nefer had not been expecting an instantaneous fix, but the mixture of pain and pressure behind her eyelids leaves her feeling dizzy and off balanace and Jahoda's fussing really isn't helping. Jahoda means well, she's just worried, and on any other day Nefer might even find it amusing. But the helplessness in this moment just makes her skin crawl. An itchy and unpleasant sensation that spreads throughout her whole body with each and every seconds that ticks by. It takes all of her energy to remain still and bite her tongue to keep from lashing out as her thoughts run rampant with everything that had happened. Being lost within memories, especially those of her past, has never been Nefer's preferred way to pass the time. Even though things have settled for the moment, it isn't easy to let her guard down. Not when the dredges of her past have been so cruelly played out before her without warning. Gritting her teeth, Nefer shifts restlessly, squeezing her eyes shut and biting back a gasp as another wave of pain hits her sensitive eyes. A clumsy hand eventually presses a warm, wet washcloth against her face and it manages to quiet the storm within her mind for a few scant seconds. The heat helps her to focus on the present, a small reprieve from the chaos that has taken over her thoughts. Nefer takes a deep breath and lightly taps Jahoda's wrist in silent thanks. "Sorry Boss Nef…" Jahoda's words trail off, her voice forlorn and quiet.

"You have nothing to apologize for." This time at least. Nefer sighs, knowing her rotten mood must be obvious. "I appreciate your help, but why don't you go check on things out front and make sure everything is in order?" "Right!" Nefer can practically feel Jahoda jolt to attention, no doubt catching on to the silent offer of an escape. But before she goes, Jahoda lingers for a few moments longer, her fingers cautiously taking hold of Nefer's hand. "Just give me a holler if you need anything." "Thank you, Jahoda." Nefer does her best to smile as usual, though she's sure her face still manages to twist into a grimace before Jahoda takes her leave. Footsteps quickly trail further and further away and finally it is blessedly quiet. At least for a few moments. The door quietly creaks open, far too slow to be Jahoda, but Nefer can only huff out a laugh. She had wondered when Ashru might appear. It does not take long before a quiet meow fills the room and he hops up onto the bed, padding to her side. Nefer is too tired to push him away, grimacing as his paws seem to find each and every sore spot and stepping on them with all of his weight. A wet nose presses against her cheek, a soft paw lightly tapping her chin. A loud purr soon fills the space between them and Nefer sighs in resignation as Ashru curls close, settling beneath her chin with a happy chirp. There's no use trying to remove him once he's settle and Nefer gives in, letting the sensation of his paws gently kneading her skin and the rumbling purr lull her into a fitful sleep.

I really REALLY like how it's shown that Clumbina is opening herself to the other, esp to Lauma (in this case), when the Moonchanter's always caring and open-handed, waiting for the goddess to come at her pace
