Lots of emotions and questions following Homan's announcement. But the thing I keep coming back to is this:

We cannot go back. We must take this moment, reflect on the power we discovered, and build a city that is stronger, more caring, and more connected.

A city that can do this can do anything.

Minneapolis will remember her sacrifice and try to live up to her example.

Amidst so much chaos and heartbreak, it was a joy to convene my precinct’s caucus last night. We gathered as neighbors to share our values and make collective decisions about how to put them into practice. We even shared some laughs.

Thanks to the good people of 8-2 for such a lovely evening.

If evicted, those who evade capture may become unhoused, which will cost all of us more in the long run. That is unacceptable and we can avoid it.

@governorwalz.mn.gov please, prevent this calamity. Protect our neighbors. You can be a hero to thousands. Instate an eviction moratorium now.

Again, protecting vulnerable families is not just a moral stand, but a practical necessity.

People taken from us now will likely never return. They are workers, community members, vital parts of our city. Without them, businesses struggle, neighborhoods are less vibrant, and city revenues fall. 5/

The argument against this policy is that it will hurt property owners, not all of whom are wealthy. That is valid; we do not need to treat landlords like villains.

But the city and the state simply MUST pit the safety of vulnerable families over the investment returns of property owners. 4/

It’s clear from the last several weeks that Minnesota legal authorities can’t expel ICE and that Minnesota law enforcement can’t protect us physically.

But state and local government can help our neighbors shelter and ensure that no one is forced out of their home during this ongoing invasion. 3/

We do not just value our immigrant communities, we depend on them.

Despite what landlords and the business lobby see as their short-term need, it is in all of our best interests to do everything we can to protect our vulnerable communities and show that their home is here in Minnesota. 2/

I am joining CM Chughtai and many others in calling on @governorwalz.mn.gov to enact an eviction moratorium immediately.

The federal occupation is preventing thousands of people — documented and not — from earning a living.

Letting this disruption turn into mass displacement would be a disaster.1/

After this awful day, I was glad to join thousands of neighbors and stand united against the federal government’s violent and disruptive presence in our city.

Grateful to local leaders at every level of government who have called for ICE to leave immediately. I echo their demand.

Horrified by news that ICE has shot a protester in South Minneapolis. Their presence represents a reckless & destructive over-reach of federal power.

Grateful for leaders like @sorenwithward8.bsky.social and all who have joined the observing efforts. Federal agents must leave our city immediately.

I learned this today. Feels a little like stolen valor. Alas...

Since the election, a number of people have asked what my title is. I wasn’t sure I had one but it turns out I am a ‘commissioner’ after all 💅

In my first act of political bravery, I confessed to @nissamitchell.com that I don't care to know much about beer.

I did, however, greatly enjoy her column on the favorite beers of Twin Cities local electeds 🍻

A lot of interesting information just in these excerpts:

✅ The city saved money by building its own restroom rather than outsourcing.
✅ City staff was able to experiment with design features to ensure success.
✅ Good staffing by effective ambassadors improved conduct.

Thanks to everyone who helped out or lent some energy to our humble campaign. I ran on my desire to help fund a brighter future for Minneapolis and I will do everything I can to come through for our city.
