I'm fine, I'm okay, but I'm *solely* financially dependent on family members and that lack of control and independence is kind of brutal honestly. As it is I'm just trying to patch things together through the near constant pain.

Part of me wistfully wishes I wanted to write about some more popular topic and would be more likely to have a bit of an income through newsletter subscriptions.

It's not right yet, but if I'm diligent about editing, and get out with my camera to get some of the shots I want to accompany it, it could be out as early as next week. 🤞

Wrote the first draft of a new essay this morning! As usual I don't know if I like it yet. And I'm going to look over the essay-in-progress I've been working on for a few weeks now.

Don't mind me, just trying not to cry because my dog is very old and has been limping for the past week (I think it's just arthritis that's acting up with the increased cold, but bringing him to the vet just to check)

The child's value is the perceived value to their parent. Even the threat of a failed future isn't for the child's sake, but the parents.

What always gets to me about this is that the "threat" of a child having agency is never really about the safety or wellbeing of the child. It always comes back to what that child could supposedly take away from parents if they were given agency.

I knew this book hated trans kids but did not know just how overtly hateful it is towards children in general. Apparently, nothing could possibly be more threatening than a child having any agency.

Genuinely difficult to think of anything that has ever confirmed the essential unity of capitalist crisis and environmental destruction as clearly & undeniably as AI. Little dog finally gets to live her life without a cone, but she’s still on bedrest and is sooooo bored. Poor thing 😭 her fur is starting to grow back, but she’s a lot colder outside than she’s had to be before.

If there is an accommodation so desirable that a problematic number of people are “faking” disability (doubt!!) to access it, that shows it’s an accommodation that could have wide social benefit is implemented in abundance. This is often the case with accommodations generally.
