To my ears, waulking songs have the same appeal as shanties. I can't help wondering if they didn't share the recent upswing shanties have had in part because they're traditionally women's songs.

I do appreciate cis advocates of trans healthcare, especially in these times, but I do wish more of them would let go of the "experts know best" framing. I'm aware it's safe, palatable, sellable, but there's a century of "experts" torturing, converting, and sexually abusing trans people. So.

Even setting aside the metaphysics of transition, part of embracing gender diversity is understanding that some people simply do not fit healthily in the gender they were assigned at birth and *do better* when living as a different gender.

"Transing the gays" conspiracy is built on the idea that you can be gender nonconforming up to a point, but you should not cross the line between the genders, you should not assert a gender identity different than the one society says you have. That isn't really accepting gender diversity.

I am not going to sit here and buy someone calling my transness a problem and then saying they're "defending" children like I was.

This rhetoric pits GNC cis people and trans people against each other, but we also need to understand what this is: the argument that being GNC has a moral limit.
