Transgender Day of Remembrance 2024 Remembering the at least 33 transgender, non-binary, and gender-expansive people killed since Nov. 20, 2023β€”at least 21 of whom were killed with a gun.

Again, in none of these tragic cases has transphobic violence been determined to be the motive.

In many cases, it has been categorically ruled out.

And not to be outdone, there is one murder of an inmate who was serving a life sentence.

And one murder commited by another 'trans' person.

The others were, in no particular order:

30 USA murders are included in the remembrance.

Zero have been determined to be as a result of transphobia.

In 26% of cases there is no suspect & therefore no motive. (Compared to the 40% for the USA as a whole)

6 people were murdered by their current/ex partner

3 Hit & Runs

3 unknown motives

60% of all of the names are from South & Central America.

25% of the names are from Brazil & 17% from Mexico. Where, unfortunately prostitution is one of the most dangerous 'professions' & 4 women are murdered daily

Many of these victims are unidentified.

Of the 3 murders in Turkey, there is no information available for 2. The 3rd was brutally murdered during a home robbery.

In Spain one person was murdered by a Moroccan migrant given sanctuary by the victim's parents (no suggestion of transphobia).
One is unnamed & the other is not a suspicious death.

2 names from The Netherlands, neither were recorded as suspicious.

2 names from the Philippines, one from last year, the other was murdered by another trans person (presumably not due to transphobia)

There were 5 names reported from France.
3 were not suspicious.
One was murdered by his partner (transphobia was not a factor)
The other was murdered & the trial is pending.

Tiffany Scott

Dubbed Scotland's most violent prisoner after a sting of offences including sex offences, serious violence against numerous women & stalking of a 13 year old girl.

There is no suggestion that Tiffany's death was linked to transphobia.

International List β€” Trans Remembrance Project

I've had a look at the names on the list.

One of them might shock you (although given all we know, it probably won't)

The list includes 370 names of transgender people who we are honouring because they lost their lives due to transphobia.

Or does it?

The USA stats are at the end of the thread.

"Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) is an annual observance on November 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence"

As always, this isn't quite what it seems.

You introduced culture & social constructions.

I'm more than happy for you to walk away because you're unable to defend your position.

I'm not sure understanding observation means I've "fucked up"

In the same way I identify whether a traffic light is red, or I identify that it's raining.

How do you identify that someone is a woman?

20.11.2024 09:44 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

You introduced this as a topic.

Has it occured to you that your inability to defend your argument might suggest that your argument is nonsense?

20.11.2024 09:43 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

By using my eyes.

20.11.2024 09:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Right, so the definition of definition isn't fixed & can be either an objective statement of the meaning of a word, or a subjective opinion.

20.11.2024 09:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Perhaps you could answer my question?

20.11.2024 09:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Why am I unable to apply it?

Based on their species, age & sex.

You appear to be suggesting that being a woman is dependent, in some cases, on performing sex-based stereotypes, and in other cases by simply declaring it so.

20.11.2024 09:27 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm a little confused, you believe definitions are subjective opinions, and you believe that because I know that's nonsense, that shows a lack of understanding on my part.

20.11.2024 09:24 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I didn't suggest it wasn't.

Perhaps you could answer my question.

20.11.2024 09:19 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Right, so her culture is fixed & she cannot identify as belonging to a culture which she doesn't, in fact, belong to?

For example, it would be a ridiculous notion for a white woman to identify as a different race?

20.11.2024 01:16 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You appear to not understand what definition means.

Subjective opinions are not definitions, obviously.

I'd broadly agree with that definition, although I'd add age to be specific.

20.11.2024 01:13 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Also, if you don't mind my asking, what culture does your wife identify with that has the, agreed, opinion that women are judged to be women based on outdated, backward, regressive & repressive stereotypes?

20.11.2024 00:17 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Right, so not a definition then, a subjective, individualistic opinion?

So there is no, actual, definition?

Except legally, of course.
