But yeah. You like stealth games? You like immersive sims? Go try the demo.

For example being able to kill the main lights in a room, but keep smaller desk lights on by interacting with them.

I'm a smooth brain so I haven't finished the demo level yet (can't find Lab D). I found a key for it, but it was completely hidden in the dark. I found it by pure chance.

Stealth is also light-based. You're invisible in the dark but enemies can still bump into you so beware. The very high contrast between light and darkness makes it very easy to gauge how hidden you are. Lighting is overall exquisite, though I wish there were more possibilities to tamper with lights.

You also make sound while moving, dictated by how fast you're going and the type of surface you're walking on. At the moment in the demo it is impossible to really gauge where an enemy is with sound, since I don't believe they make any footsteps (yet), so you have to rely on visual cues.

You can KO people using a snap of your fingers, but they're only KO'd temporarily. If you get spotted, you have one minute to KO the enemy(ies) who saw you and wipe their memories, otherwise the mission fails. The demo level is very nice and very open. Outside windows, vents, rooftops. You name it.

I played two good hours of Noirmancer. I like it! The array of powers is very cool: you can shrink yourself and squeeze in impossibly small passageways (and make no noise while running), you can turn into mist, you can create noise-dampening platforms you can use to reach other places.

I do enjoy some of their later works, but most of their catalogue is flat out uninteresting to me. So seeing they're also pretty scummy (AI bros, as well as conspiracy theorists) solidifies my decision not to care one bit. Listen to The Frozen Autumn instead if you want slow, synth-heavy darkwave.

It's funny seeing the goth community up in arms against Clan of Xymox for being scummy people, when I never even cared for their music much in the first place personally. People hail Medusa as their masterpiece and to me it's a very weak album that never delivers anything of note.

Tonight it’s Ritual Howls. One of my favorite contemporary goth bands. They play what I like to describe as south-US-rural-serial-killer-wave. Their music is always dirty, seedy, occult and plain dark sounding. The beyond-the-grave vocals in particular are some of the best you’ll hear in the genre.

Played a solid hour of Airframe Ultra during my lunch break. It's *very* jank at this stage, but it's quite fun! The maps are super impressive overall. I still do not understand how picking up items works though. It seems like everyone else is toting guns when I have only my feet.

I have this album on vinyl (along with Return of the Empire). Just exquisite packaging.

Short commute tonight, so a short album. Living For Nothing by noted antifascist deathrock giants Horror Vacui. Not my favorite record of theirs (the award goes to Return if the Empire that’s a straight 10), but still great stuff.
