I have some sad news, and will probably be quiet here for a few days. Sweet Pea took a rapid and terrible turn for the worse, and late yesterday had to be put to sleep.

Well, she was doing better for the first few days on the new diet, but yesterday was pretty bad. And so far, today isn’t good.
She needs constant comfort, and I wish I had one of those slings parents use to carry babies on their chests. The Vet said we’d know in a week if the new diet is helping.

They seem somehow magical. Holding one in your hand is like holding joy.

You can find crystal geodes in Okanogan County (north and west of Spokane). The west side of the state has more, and a larger variety.

I’ve never found one in the wild, but I’m sure smitten by them. A friend of mine collects them, and has some lovely, small ones.

I associate canned peas with hot lunch at school. I’d drink my milk, then fill the carton with my peas so the cafeteria monitor wouldn’t make me eat them.

I love frozen peas — it’s the canned ones I hate.
Wonderful treatment for the tenderloin. I rarely buy them because I like a fattier cut, but you make a good point with the highly seasoned sauces. Now I’m thinking about it.

I’m so happy for you. Up here, we can find them in little pots at a few florist shops this time of year. I have one blooming right now, and it’s heavenly. But when it’s done, it’s done.
To have them growing outside! And in numbers!
