29 years ago today, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 14 years old.

I will always remember my first two thoughts upon being told I must inject insulin for life to survive:

1) my life will never again be the same;

2) I need a cigarette 😂🤣

I should add, she has had a lower limb amputation (in her 70s) but otherwise is complication free.

My aunt has had Type 1 since she was 13. She’s 81.

Leaving the dispensary today, I accidentally backed into another car. The woman, a 60-something with a hippie vibe, hopped out of her SUV, said “no damage here! You?” Me “I’m not even worried about it.” Her: “well then let’s get the FUCK out of here!”

Yesterday evening, my brother-in-law, Steve, passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was 46 years old.

Fuck cancer and fuck a pancreas. Seriously.
