Oorah Findings: The Zone I’m gonna be honest, when I decided to dust off that Kars4Kids article and turn it into a video essay, I was truly not at all expecting it to do so well.

For those in the NYC area, those Kars for Kids radio ad are not just annoying but raising funds to facilitate the abuse of children and animals. (Trigger warnings: there are images of injured/dead animals in this article and discussion of child sex abuse.)

Road Trip

Woke up from a dream where I was told Mel Brooks had died. So glad I don't have to sob myself silly today and watch endless clips from The Twelve Chairs, To Be or Not to Be, Space Balls, History of the World, Part I, The Producers, The 1000 Year Old Man...etc., instead of working.

Heart Rot

A Portent

I went for a walk in my happy place (the local cemetery) and was accompanied for part of it by a fledgling kestrel and its parents. Squee!

I admit it’s been *checks watch* 10ish years since I saw it but I remember being annoyed about that Ellie thing. It seemed unnecessary, just to create more drama. I did however like the whole “what happens after” trajectory. I feel like you rarely get that in these atmospheric procedurals…

A Sanguine Host

The #tears make it hard to see the onions beneath the knife. She slips, cutting into her thumb, spraying red over the white half-moons. A trail to the bathroom, dot dot dot, to find a bandage. Later, her guests praise the sauce, its perfect seasoning and beautiful color. #vss365

Annual Exam

She undresses, slides the blue gown over her bare shoulders. She remembers another shoulder, paler, older. Colder. Against her will, she is again closing stiff eyelids, holding a chilled hand, saying “Sorry, sorry” for failing in her #promise that everything would be all right. #vss365

How did I miss this post 22 days ago? Anyway it’s a delight to wake up to as a grog-scroll in my post-colonoscopy bliss. And that Hershey Bar is our brother. And boy I would really like a Hershey Bar right about now…🍫

It is an especial cruelty to have the colonoscopy clinic directly across the street from a bagel shop. 🥯
