Extremely tough when Saraf really seems ages away.

This and the good ATO play design comfort me when it comes to Jordi. He's doing what he can with his hands tied behind his back - this isn't Monty Williams with Detroit

Not going to give Danny and Grant Nelson the Exciting Whites meme but I'd at least say Intriguing Whites.

Interesting to see how the Knicks generally slow playstyle works so well against Wemby. They take their time to get a good look rather than driving over the over into his arms

Same game as always - get the ball, shoot the ball, no matter the difficulty, no matter the situation.

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

America has no capacity as a country to stop its president from doing anything, really. No other democratic country has anything like this - makes you think!

Congrats to Kevin Durant of the Rockets on becoming the 6th player in NBA history to reach 32,000 career points!

Kevin Durant: face of the NBA Internet Era How one superstar's career mirrors the evolution of social media

After months of editing and research (reading old KD tweets), I am so excited to finally share this piece.

I wrote about Kevin Durant and the internet:

I agree BUT the really long digression on his fantasy baseball league was almost a dealbreaker. Bill's a pro and so steered him out eventually but it had "trapped in the lunchroom with a coworker" energy

I would love to read an article about how these uber-competitive young coaches like Jordi and Will Hardy handle the bleakness of a tank. I'll bet they have a crazy group chat.

Perfect description of how I feel watching the team - flipping constantly from "oh wow this dude did something good" to "I'm not sure any of these guys would get minutes if they were on the Thunder right now"

The NHL is proud to announce that next season's Winter Classic outdoor game will feature the Toronto Maple Leafs facing off against the DHS All Stars at the newly-built ICE Detention Center Warehouse in Social Circle, Georgia.

This is a particularly bad matchup for the Pistons IMO. Wemby takes away so much of what they do and when he's not on the floor and Cade isn't either there's no way to make up lost ground

I remember Biden's "will you shut up man" as basically the standout of those debates because it was so plainly what most humans were thinking. And here we are again!

This is what drives me so nuts about Twitter v Bluesky crap. We are all on niche sites. Twitter is for fascists and deluded journalists; Bluesky is for nervous 38-year olds. And why does the "importance" of a site matter when information spreads instantly? What am I missing other than a bad time?

His development path is the most linear and obvious to me, which is super relieving. Like, the Nets have figured out what he does super well and what he needs to do better and he's on the same page.

There were a few plays run yesterday specifically to get Egor cutting or moving to the rim, which made me unduly hyped. Obviously he needs to bulk up to make them work better but I love seeing the effort to get this in his arsenal, especially as teams aren't giving him room to shoot anymore

For people who have not poisoned their brain with information overdose addiction, Twitter and Bluesky are both uninteresting because fundamentally they are sites for people who cannot live without gossip but also happen to have multiple degrees.

Clip that insane pass to Wolf as he was reversing out of the key and Danny was cutting in

I'll add the Oilers loss to the Panthers, which was also agonizing even if there were plenty of Canadians all over Florida

Interesting to see, as @colinbrady.bsky.social noticed, that teams are clearly starting to put Egor on the scouting report as someone who deserves special attention on offence. Johnson and Daniels are really pressing him

This year Canada has lost the World Series to the Dodgers and both men's and women's Olympic hockey. Pretty excruciating! I do consider OKC's finals win to be a Canada W because of Dort and SGA (or at least a wash because of Nembhardt and Mathurin), but maybe that's cope.
