It feels weird promoting events when dire stuff is going on in this country - but reading, libraries, joy, community, and romance are small yet mighty liberties. If you’re able to join us, we’d love to have you.

It’s official! So relieved and happy to know that Derek Tran will be representing my family and our neighbors in Congress.

We got redistricted into 45. I miss being in a reliably blue one.

So, notes:

a) Steel, not Steele.

b) The result hasn’t been called by news orgs, but Tran’s lead has been steadily increasing with each new drop of votes at >99% counted, and he declared victory. Still a margin of less than 600 votes.

c) I’m guessing they will do a recount regardless?

omg, this is official?? YES!!! this is my district! I’d stopped checking the results because I was too sad, and then lo and behold.

Knowing we’re no longer represented by Steele is an immense relief. I’m gonna choose to believe the voter postcards I hand-wrote helped, just a tiny bit.
