My mother’s surgery was a perfect success. She’ll have further treatment next year, but now we can tentatively say she’s cancer-free!

Remember the eclipse back in April?

Since eclipses are rare I practiced camera settings and timing... then changed travel plans, watched the weather like a hawk, and ended up driving quite a bit. It all worked out. I'm proudest of this image and would love to do projects like this more often.

One more thought on "bad" art, at the risk of sounding pretentious:

The point of art is to create and express something. Technical skills (anatomy, perspective, etc) are good, but only insofar as they serve that goal. What gives art its value is the impression it makes, not the artist's skill.

If you're exhausted now and daunted by the fight ahead, that means you were trying as hard as you could before. Take a rest.

I get it. I don’t think what’s broken in me will ever mend—nor should it. Feel your feelings and don’t be ashamed. It’s not weird at all to be breaking down with what we’re all going through together.
